My work with Archives and Records Management

Preserving and making available our cultural heritage is a high priority. To that end, I have been involved with several projects relating to archives and records managment.

  • In 2012, the Texas State Capitol unveiled its latest treaure, the sprawling and beautiful Tejano Monument recognizing a part of Texas history often overlooked. I spent a semester working with the Tejano Monument Inc. papers at The Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection. The finished finding aid can be found here.

  • In 2014, a fellow student and I performed a deep dive into software programs that perform File Re-naming, De-Duplicating and File Transfer functions. The slides to our hour-long presentation can be found here.

  • Also, in 2014 a group of students and I conducted a scientific inquiry into my e-mail and laptop harddrive and developed a Designing and Implementing Recordkeeping Systems intitiative for me to follow. I took most of the recommendations to heart. That DIRKS document can be found here.
